Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Environmental Coordinator will continually look at new technologies and business practices that minimize our environmental footprint, while ensuring all regulatory permits and licenses are in place with a focus on increasing efficiencies and reducing waste. The position will also oversee operations as they pertain to environmental issues and advise Lantic’s site management on such issues. 

Main Responsibilities


• Establish schedules and ensure that regulatory deadlines are met within specified time frames and are on budget;

• Oversee and support the utilization of our pond system, our water waste treatment & yard and plant operations as they pertain to environmental issues

• Provide environmental and regulatory support and expertise for the overall facility operations, including projects, through the assessment, application filing, post filing, and post-approval stages;

• Complete environmental assessment reporting documents to support regulatory submissions; • Communicate and collaborate with other environmental and regulatory specialists to support deliverables;

• Conduct office duties, such as data management, analysis and interpretation, report preparation, and preparation of environmental approval applications and other general tasks;

• Support Health & Safety and Quality Assurance policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines in the execution of all work;

• Liaise and communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams, regulators, and clients;

• Liaise with various environmental regulatory bodies on all levels of government;

• Works with internal and external resources to establish and maintain an environmental management system;

• Supports capital projects as they concern environmental issues;

• Supports plant management/engineering teams as directed;

• Oversees waste streams of facility and adds value where possible;

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications


 

• One (1) to three (3) years of experience in a similar position;

• Strong Knowledge and expertise of environmental laws and regulations;

• Strong written and verbal communication skills;

• Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, motivational and communication skills;

• Familiar with current and evolving standards in environmental fields;  

• Knowledge and/or experience with environmental management systems  or ISO 14000 standard would be an asset;

• Demonstrates leadership in living and promoting Lantic’s Mission and Values;

• Strong sense of accountability;

• High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information;

• Adaptability, autonomy, good stress management, ability to multi-task, good political sense & change agent. 

Education


• Preference will be given to a candidate with a Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Environmental Science or related discipline, or equivalent;
