Main Responsibilities
- Develop formal maintenance plans, scheduling of work assignments, as well as selecting and purchasing suitable replacement parts through the CMMS (Maximo)
- Ensure that work planned complies with all applicable provincial/federal regulations, including company policies and standards
- Troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation issues
- Assist the engineering department in new equipment design projects with respect to electrical and instrumentation integration
- Participate in the selection, training, evaluation of department trades employees
- Schedules, assigns, plans and monitors the work of electrical shop employees
- Trains or informs employees of new work methods or procedures, changes in safety regulations, work policies, electrical codes and standards
- Responsible for assisting in the preparation and control of the electrical/instrumentation maintenance budget
- Categorize resourced work and prioritize work orders in CMMS
- Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly planning and work scheduled
- Maintain and assist in developing standard jobs
- Identify man-hours required and available for planned work activities
- Maintains time, payroll, work order, material, equipment and other electrical department shop records and submits reports
- Plans and develops work schedules, equipment usage schedules, priority of electrical expenditures and procedures for equipment maintenance
Qualifications and Experiences Required
Education & professional certification
- Electrical/Instrumentation Technologist or Electrical/Instrumentation Trade with five (5) years post qualifying Red Seal
- Electrical/Instrumentation trade or three (3) to five (5) years of experience advantageous if only qualified in one of the trades
- Must be a Master Electrician or be willing to obtain.
Knowledge & experience
- Five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in industrial/manufacturing industry
- Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in supervisory experience in a unionized environment
- Good knowledge of industry standards and codes
- Experience in reliability maintenance and Continuous Improvement as it relates to the electrical and instrumentation field
- Excellent computer knowledge with CMMS, Microsoft office

- Sound judgment, analytical, problem solving and conflict management skills
- Manage and prioritize multiple tasks
- Skill in estimating time and material requirements of assigned work projects
