Maintenance Planner

Job Summary

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the incumbent will be responsible for the management and completion of work orders that include the scheduling of daily, weekly activities. In addition, the Maintenance Planner will be in contact with suppliers, manufacturers, service partners, vendors and contractors to fulfill work order requests. The incumbent will provide project management support in the administrative as well as the technical tasks of the department.

Main Responsibilities


  • Ability to make recommendations in partnership with the maintenance superintendent and supervisors;
  • Schedule the daily/weekly activities of the maintenance department (work orders) for both planned tasks and corrective actions;
  • Manage and complete demand work orders;
  • Identify and manage work order driven procurement requirements and work with nominated parties including: suppliers, manufacturers and service partners to fulfill requests;
  • Forecast preventative and predictive maintenance workload volumes and labor schedules;
  • Provide management with information on inventory, and other maintenance activities and accounting practice;
  • Provide project management support: administrative, technical and management;
  • Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors to perform required services;
  • Track and report facility maintenance performance in line with the agreed reporting formats;
  • Relief front line supervision when required.

 

Qualifications and Experiences Required


  • College Associate Degree in a technical field or a Red Seal trade certification;
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Maintenance Planner. Prior experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Basic understanding of work order systems and mechanical drawings;
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Maximo CMMS);
  • Fluent in English (oral & written);
  • Excellent communication skills with all employees, contractors and vendors;
  • Strong sense of responsibility;
  • Excellent problem solving & analytical skills;
  • Excellent teamwork and self-starter;
  • Intellectual curiosity & creativity;
  • Excellent organizational skills; prioritize and manage multi-functional tasks;
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision;
  • Ability to maintain a calm demeanor in emergency situations;
