Operations Supervisor

Job Summary

Lantic is currently recruiting for the position of Operations Supervisor based at the Blending Facility in Toronto. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the incumbent is responsible for organizing, coordinating all plant production as well as maintenance activities. The Supervisor must support his/her employees in the execution of their tasks and ensure the smooth running of operations. In addition, the incumbent responds to emergency downtime situations and ensures that all preventive maintenance tasks are completed by the maintenance team. Finally, the supervisor must respect, within the scope of his/her duties, the Occupational Health & Safety Program, current good manufacturing practices and all food safety policies.

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintain standard operational procedures to meet the objectives in the plant while planning for labour and any necessary training;
  • Assist Plant Manager with acquisition of parts and other supplies to maintain operational status;
  • Ensure the rigorous application of all quality policies, GMP’s and SOP’s;
  • Ensure the proper ongoing sanitation of production equipment and work areas;
  • Work with the Operations Coordinator on the short term daily production plan;
  • Regularly verify production outputs compared to objectives and quickly take actions to correct the differentials by applying Plan Do Check Act principles;
  • Ensure the development and improvement of the activities within the plant to ensure the integrity of the continuous improvement process (PDCA);
  • Oversee preventive maintenance program and follow up with recommendations for equipment operational effectiveness;
  • Implement new strategies to improve operational efficiencies in all areas of the plant;
  • Organize preventive shutdowns for peak performance of equipment within the department;
  • Facilitate team meetings in the department;


Qualifications and Experiences Required

  • Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma;
  • Excellent knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act;
  • 7 plus years in a food production leadership role with sound mechanical knowledge;
  • Experience in personnel management or demonstrated leadership skills;
  • Superior knowledge of manufacturing processes’;
  • Intermediate knowledge of production management;
  • Superior knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP and other food safety  programs;
  • Intermediate computer skills (MS Office);
  • Human Resources Management skills;
  • Good communication, interpersonal and decision-making skills;
  • Good coaching, listening, and change management abilities;
  • Keen sense of responsibility;
  • Ability to react quickly and demonstrate leadership in emergency situations;
  • Ability to manage several projects and competing priorities simultaneously;
