Operations Support Supervisor

Job Summary

Reporting to the Reliability Superintendent, the main objectives of the Operations Support Supervisor are to provide effective operational and technical support of all plant operations and maintenance while ensuring the safety of our employees, contractors and visitors, with the objective of “Zero Harm”; provide leadership, guidance and development to departmental personnel; provide continuous improvement, training and succession planning within the Taber factory and operating facilities.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental regulations and requirements with the objective of zero harm;
  • Support and provide leadership and continuous improvement to the overall operations of all beet receiving stations from the commencement to the conclusion of the annual beet harvest, including maintenance;
  • In conjunction with Plant Operations and Human Resources, develop and execute succession and training plan targets and deliverables;
  • In conjunction with Plant Operations, review, create and train on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) throughout the year;
  • Assist maintenance personnel with the creation of standard job packages;
  • Timely completion of safety corrective actions and incident investigations, including related follow ups for department;
  • Provide coverage for plant-wide supervisory team;
  • Assist with and build Lock Out Tag Out sheets as required;
  • Must have flexibility to adapt to various operational schedules;
  • Provide leadership to promote and support Lantic’s Mission and Values;
  • Foster a continuous improvement and change management mindset.

Qualifications and Experiences Required

  • Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma in Business Admin or business Management with a concentration in Operations Management, Journeyman,Ticketed Tradesman or Read Seal Trade would be considered an asset, or suitable combination of education and experience will be taken into consideration;
  • 4+ years of beet processing experience is a preference;
  • Knowledge and familiarity with automated process technology;
  • Knowledge of food processing, packaging and harvest operations;
  • Experience with maintenance management systems and operating procedures;
  • Understanding of food safety programs and their role;
  • Understanding of environmental regulations &  continuous improvement;
  • Experience working with a unionized workforce is considered an asset.
