Job Summary

Reporting to the Corporate Procurement Manager, the Senior Buyer is responsible for managing and
supporting the purchasing process of the goods and services for Taber’s plant. These purchasing processes
are required to maintain the operations and the daily requirements for production at the refinery.

Main Responsibilities


WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO : 

  • Manages and executes the requirements from our system according to Purchasing cycle;
  • Prioritizes and supports urgent requirements;
  • Follows up on acknowledgement, deliveries, etc.;
  • RFQs: analyzes & challenges suppliers to improve the landed cost;
  • Contributes to the supplier negotiation process;
  • Maintains excellent business relations with our current suppliers;
  • Researches, analyzes and qualifies new sources of purchasing for more competitiveness;
  • Supports internal customers in the achievement of their objectives;
  • Supports & replaces, if needed, within the Purchasing Dept.;
  • Participates in the vendor yearly evaluation;
  • Attends and participates in departmental meetings;
  • Reports cost savings monthly;
  • Participates in the continuous improvement of the department;
  • Contributes to the Non Conformance process, when declared.

Qualifications and Experiences Required


WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO JOIN THE TEAM :

  • Post-secondary education in purchasing/procurement or administration or equivalent;
  • 5-7 years’ experience in a Purchasing position;
  • Good knowledge of suppliers for maintenance parts and services;
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office tools, Outlook, Internet and Procurement Software Programs;
  • Knowledge and adherence of ISO, HACPP, and FSSC22000 programs;
  • Very good knowledge of the technical aspect of Purchasing & Procurement;
  • Key knowledge of the market for the maintenance parts;
  • Excellent knowledge of both Canadian and American markets for sourcing supplies in the industrial sector.
